If you take a loan in the UK, you will be asked to take out a Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) that will cover your debt if you are not able to pay back the loan. If you lose your income, you can take advantage of this PPI. However, if you do not need the PPI, you can claim it back.
To claim back the PPI, you will have to read your policy and go through the paperwork minutely. Ensure that PPI was added to your loan and also see the starting date of the loan. You will then have to go through all the criterions involved and see whether you are eligible to get back the PPI or not. For example, if the PPI was optional, you might not be able to reclaim it. If you qualify for reclaiming the PPI, you must write a letter to the lender stating that you want to reclaim the insurance.
